What should I do if I need to make a claim?

What happens if I give you the wrong information?

All the information you give us must be accurate to the best of your knowledge, and it’s your responsibility to update us if your circumstances change.

Insurance companies can cancel policies, declare them invalid and refuse to pay all or part of a claim if the information is not correct – and if a company believes the inaccuracy was deliberate or reckless, they will investigate for fraud and may not pay the claim. If you need to make any changes, please do so by contacting us on 0345 850 5193.

What is your definition of Europe?

If you’re buying travel insurance for travel in Europe, Arnold Clark Insurance Services will also cover you in some non-European countries with a Mediterranean coastline.

The countries we define as Europe are:

Do you offer travel insurance for cruise trips?

Yes, you will be covered under the normal policy terms and conditions for cruises.

However, you need to make sure that you have cover arranged for every destination you’ll be visiting on your cruise.

Do you offer travel insurance cover for over 70s?

Yes, we do.

How far in advance can I buy my travel insurance policy?

If you are buying a single-trip policy, you can buy this up to 12 months in advance of your trip. For single-trip policies, cover for cancellation is provided as soon as you have paid for your policy.

Annual multi-trip policies can be bought up to 60 days in advance of when you want your policy to start. It is important to note that cancellation cover will only be in force from the start date as shown on your policy schedule.

COVID FAQs

What COVID-19 cover is included in my policy?
  • You fall ill with COVID-19 abroad and need medical treatment.
  • You fall will with COVID-19 at home and cannot travel.
  • You have to self-isolate at home due to being a close contact of someone who has confirmed COVID-19 (yourself or household member) and cannot travel.
  • You have been denied boarding at the airport due to detected symptoms of COVID-19.
  • You are made redundant, cannot cover the cost of your holiday and have to cancel the trip.
  • You are due to stay with family, one or more of whom has to self-isolate due to COVID-19. You need to cancel your trip as you no longer have anywhere to stay.
  • While you are travelling, restrictions are imposed asking people to return to their country of residence due to COVID-19.
  • Accommodation provider closes due to outbreak of COVID-19.
  • An airline or travel provider ceases to trade without being able to meet their obligations regarding travel arrangements and you are unable to claim money back through any other source e.g., ATOL/ABTA.

If myself or one of my party tests positive or are advised to self-isolate less than 10 days before our departure date, are we covered?

Our travel insurance policies include cover for COVID-19, such as cancellation due to falling ill with coronavirus and being unable to travel or being required to self-isolate (subject to a medical certificate or an official test result).

PLEASE NOTE: Cancellation due to a pandemic illness or for personal quarantine is not covered within the first 48 hours of the policy purchase date.

Am I covered to travel to a country if FCDO advice against travel is in place?

Cover is only provided if you are not travelling against the advice of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) or any other equivalent government body in another country.
