A record-breaking 462,517 new cars were registered last month, making September 2015 the biggest month on record for new car sales.

September has always been one of the busiest months as a result of new number plates, but this year saw a staggering 8.6% increase on last year’s figures.

All types of fuel also saw an increase. Petrol cars are still strides ahead of diesel, with a growth of 12.3%, compared to 4.1% respectively. However, there has been a huge increase in alternatively fuelled vehicles, which were up by 21.7%.
