What is VRI?

VRI is our specially designed Vehicle Replacement Insurance - helping you to protect your investment.

Unfortunately, accidents do happen but what would you do if your vehicle was involved in an accident and was written off? Likewise, if your vehicle was stolen and not recovered what would your options be?

The likelihood is that your insurance company will only pay out the amount they value your vehicle at and not what you originally paid.

Arnold Clark Vehicle Replacement Insurance (VRI) has been specifically designed to supplement your comprehensive motor insurance policy and will pay the difference between the price you paid for the vehicle and the greater of the current market value* or your insurance company settlement - should your vehicle be written off as a result of accidental damage, fire or theft.

VRI Benefits

  • Pays the shortfall between the greater of the current market value* or your insurance company payout and the original purchase price of the car (i.e. the net selling invoice price**).
  • Allows the purchase of a replacement vehicle of same value as your original purchase.
  • Up to £15,000 or £25,000 benefit (in addition to your insurance company payout) dependent on the purchase price of your car.
  • Covers both new and used vehicles.
  • Covers vehicles up to 6 years old (at date of purchase) with a purchase price of up to £50,000.
  • Provides a full 3 Years protection for a low cost premium.

'*Current Market Value' is the lower of the 'Glass's Guide' and 'Cap' retail market valuations at the time of the total loss.**Net Selling Invoice Price' is the sale price of the insured vehicle (including factory fitted and dealer fitted accessories) but excluding any warranty charges, insurance premiums, road fund licence, service and MOT plans, fuel and negative equity.

Low Cost Cover

For a full 3 years protection Arnold Clark VRI costs:

£199 (for vehicles with a net selling invoice price of up to £15,000) or;
£299 (for vehicles with a net selling invoice price of between £15,001 and £50,000).

The VRI premium includes Insurance Premium Tax (IPT) at the current rate.

Goodwill policy

In the event you make a claim under this policy and the benefit payable is less than a premium you paid, we will on a goodwill basis pay you a total benefit equal to the premium you have paid for this policy.

Should you require to make a claim, an initial assessment of your claim will be made and providing everything is in order, a claim form will be issued to you for completion.
