Wipers - make sure they are working properly and the blades are not worn out.
Lights - make sure you lights are working and all the bulbs are still functioning - in particular your fog lights.
Anti-freeze - Ensure that your anti-freeze is at the correct concentration, check your vehicle hand book for the correct concentration and type for your vehicle and top up your screen wash as there is more spray from roads in winter.
Windows - check for any cracks, if you find any that you are concerned about Arnold Clark ClarkFit provides a mobile repair service, contact your local branch for details, we also advise that you check that your rear heated window is working
Oil levels - Every fortnight check your oil levels. The oil should be between both marks, but preferably closer to the maximum mark. If you need to top up the oil, locate the oil filler cap; pour in small amounts of oil until the level is correct.

Arnold Clarks top tips on driving in the winter

Driving in rain - Keep back!
In wet weather, stopping distances will be at least double those required for stopping on dry roads. This is because your tyres have less grip on the road in wet weather.
Driving in Ice and Slush - Keep back!
Ice and slush makes driving particularly hazardous - it can take up to 10 times longer to stop than on a dry road.

Driving in Fog - Drive Slowly!
Drive slowly and use your fog lights or dipped headlights as necessary and don't drive to closely to the vehicle in front of you.

Remember to keep...

Sunglasses - keep them in a handy place - glare from the winter sun can be dangerous
De-icer - always carry to clear your windows and mirrors.
Scrapper - always carry one to remove stubborn ice patches on your wind screen.
