Built in Britain and now the star of a very British motor show, Toyota’s Auris Hybrid is making its debut in Arnold Clark.

In the wake of an austere budget, the prospect of a practical family car that offers road tax-free CO2 emissions from 89g/km and an official 74.3mpg has even more appeal. Built at Toyota’s Burnaston factory in Derbyshire, and with a petrol engine produced at its Deeside plant in North Wales, Auris Hybrid is the first Toyota hybrid to be manufactured in Europe.

The launch of the Auris Hybrid marks the introduction of Toyotas Hybrid Synergy Drive (HSD) technology to one of is mainstream models for the first time.  Furthermore, this five-door hatchback has the distinction of offering the only full hybrid powertrain in the compact car segment.

The benefits of Hybrid Synergy Drive, go beyond exceptional fuel economy and low CO2 emissions: it is user-friendly and delivers a quiet, comfortable and stress free drive unlike anything else in the C segment. The systems 1.8-litre VVT-I petrol engine and electric motor generate a maximum 134mph, giving nought to 62 mph acceleration in 11.4 seconds and a top speed of 112mph, performance that matches any conventional 2.0-litre petrol or diesel hatchback.
