Vauxhall Meriva opens doors to class-leading family car

Vauxhall’s new Meriva is set to turn the conventional family-car on its head with a combination of clever, rear-hinged back doors which radically improve access and a raft of unique interior features that makes this car class leading.

The new Meriva is the first Vauxhall to feature FlexDoors® which swing open towards the back of the car at an angle of nearly 90 degrees, vastly improving the ease with which occupants enter and leave the car.

Especially for parents with children, as the larger door opening and free space allows parents to lift small children forwards into rear-mounted, second-stage child seats without having to twist themselves around a door.

Incredibly, the FlexDoors® cannot be opened by occupants while the Meriva is travelling at more than 2mph, after which the doors automatically lock. The sophisticated system also warns drivers if a door is not completely closed, another plus point for this family car. Further to this safety feature the New Meriva boasts driver and passenger airbag, Electronic Stability Programme-plus incorporating traction control, Pedal release system, Emergency Brake Assist and Cornering Brake Control and this list is by no means exhaustive.

The Meriva not only offers greater practicality, easier fold-down rear seats and more boot room but also optional luxuries such as a full length panoramic sunroof, satellite navigation including USB with ipod control, automatic lighting control, rain sensitive windscreen wipers and up to 18 inch alloy wheels.
