Abarth overview

Abarth & C. S.p.A. (pronounced a-baath) is an Italian racing and road car manufacturer, which was founded in Turin, Italy in 1949 by Carlo Abarth, an Austrian-Italian engineer and racing car designer. Abarth has long been associated with the Fiat Group, which acquired the brand in 1971. Stellantis inherited Abarth in 2021 as part of the Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) and PSA Group merger.

Abarth vehicles are synonymous with quality and high performance and have a strong racing heritage, particularly rallying and hill climb racing. The brand is known for manufacturing high-end performance versions of Fiat cars. Its sports and racing vehicles are widely praised by car enthusiasts and racers for their speed and precise handling.

Abarth cars are designed for speed and promise to give their owners an exhilarating driving experience, whether they’re looking for a sports car, a racing car or just a thrilling ride. The iconic Abarth logo features a scorpion on a striking red and yellow background to represent the company’s commitment to manufacturing vehicles that are powerful, fast and agile.

The brand entered the electric vehicle market in 2023 with the launch of the Abarth 500e. Targeting the growing hot hatch EV market, the Abarth 500e is based on the existing Fiat 500e. It has a 42kWh battery and permanent magnet AC motor. This increases its power output to 153bhp and 235Nm of torque, compared to the standard Fiat’s 117bhp and 220Nm of torque. The 500e accelerates from 0-42mph in seven seconds. The model offers drivers sporty suspension, high driving position and sharp steering. It is ideal for city and suburban driving. It won the Autonis Award from the German automotive magazine Auto Motor und Sport for the 2023 automotive design innovation of the year in the minicars category.
