The Mercedes-Benz A 35 was unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, launching alongside the Mk4 edition of the A-Class. Equipped with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 302bhp and 400Nm of torque, it could reach 62mph from a standstill in 4.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 155mph. The following spring, the hot hatch variant was joined by a saloon. This offered the same exciting performance but with more cabin space and a larger boot for those seeking extra practicality.

A new Mercedes-Benz A 45 S AMG hot hatch replaced the original A 45 in 2022, taking performance to the next level. With the same 2.0-litre turbo engine as the A 35, it produces 416bhp and 500Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-62mph in just 3.9 seconds, and with a top speed of 168mph. In 2023, the A 35 AMG received an update, which included some styling tweaks, but, more significantly, the addition of 48-volt mild hybrid technology to improve efficiency.
