Michael Jamieson and Robbie Renwick Olympic Swimmers
Olympic fever gripped the United Kingdom above and beyond the expectations of anybody, and Arnold Clark’s BMW/MINI Dealership, Harry Fairbairn was in the midst of the action. Harry Fairbairn generously sponsored Glasgwegian and Aberdonian hopefuls Michael Jamieson and Robbie Renwick in the hotly contested swimming heats. With such a demanding and time-consuming training schedule on the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic Games, the boys were struggling to afford their travel costs alongside everything else, this is where Harry Fairbairn were able to offer a helping hand.
Providing the boys with a brand new BMW 1 series and a MINI Countryman, they were able to attend all training and publicity commitments with ease. Both of the boys did the UK proud being very successful in their respective breast stroke and freestyle heats, with Jamieson’s performance astounding most with his huge effort to secure the silver medal in the breaststroke final.
Michael comments, “I am so delighted. I knew I had a little bit more to give. Beating the British record is a huge achievement and my time would have been good enough to beat the world record had it not been for Gyurta’s huge performance. It’s so much easier with the crowd behind you.”
Harry Fairbairn and Arnold Clark are proud to have supported such impressive and prospering young talent in the lead up to the 2012 London Olympic Games.
