What information will the telematics smart box collect?

The device collects information about when the car is used, how far it travels and its location, as well as general driving behaviours such as speed, acceleration and braking. This information helps us generate your overall driving score which can be monitored through your online dashboard. The better your score, the more you’ll save.

Do I have to wait for the telematics smart box to be fitted before I can drive my car?

No. As soon as your insurance cover has started, you can drive your car. Your black box will then either be fitted through an organised appointment with our box company, or we’ll send your device in the post and you can fit it yourself.

Will my insurance premiums change throughout the year because I have a telematics smart box?

If you haven’t made any active changes to your policy, your insurance will remain the same throughout the year. With safe driving and management of your driving score, you could see extra discounts and lower prices when you renew your car insurance.

What happens if I speed?

Simply put, speeding is illegal and can result in large fines and points on your licence. You should always abide by the Highway Code, which is why your speed always factors into your overall driving score. Depending on the severity of the event and the impact it has on your journey score, speeding can lead to cancellation of your policy. Please refer to your terms and conditions for more information.

I can’t access my insurance documents, what should I do?

All of your insurance documents are sent through a secure vault system. You will be sent an email with a link and a PIN number to your mobile to access them. If you’ve forgotten your PIN number, you can have it resent to you through your emailed link. If you still don’t have any luck, please contact us and we can arrange them to be sent again.

How do I make a claim on my policy?

Our claims team is here to help you whenever you need us, with operators on hand 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just give us a ring and we’ll take you through the claims process.

Will my policy automatically renew?

No. When your insurance is due for renewal, you will receive an email from the renewal team with the price of the next year’s premium along with reminders. We do not automatically renew policies, so if you would like to ahead, just contact our customer service team.

How do I cancel my policy?

We don’t want to lose you as a customer but we do understand that there are circumstances where you might want to cancel your policy. To speak to one of the customer service team, please call 0330 100 2337. Or, you can download a cancellation form here and email it to cancel@mypolicy.co.uk.
