With the Fast & Furious 6 about to hit our screens in the UK, we’ve taken a look at our favourite cars from the action-packed franchise
The Fast and Furious franchise is a car fanatic's dream as it showcases some amazing super cars at their fastest
When the Fast and Furious franchise first burst on to our screens in 2001 it was a car fanatic's dream - a film that showcased super cars and showed them off in fast street races. The movies have evolved since then to keep the franchise fresh and although the heart of the film is still fast cars, the franchise has moved on from a racing film to a heist film with cars.
With the impending sixth film due to be released on 17th May 2013 and a seventh film scheduled for August 2014, let’s look at the cool cars used throughout the franchise.
The Fast and the Furious (2001)
Dodge Charger & Toyota Supra - The main characters Dom & Brian race each other in these in the final scenes
Mazda RX-7 - Dom's car for the main race scenes.
Mitsubishi Eclipse - Brian's car for the majority of the film.
Volkswagen Jetta - This is Jesse's car that he loses to create the finale of the film
2 Fast 2 Furious (2003)
Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - Roman's car for the film.
Mitsubishi Lancer - Brian's car for the film.
The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006)
Ford Mustang - The car used by the main character Sean.
Mazda RX-7 - the car used in the drifting scenes.
Nissan Fairlady Z - Han's car for the film.
Fast & Furious (2009)
Dodge Charger - Dom's car making a return to the franchise.
Ford Gran Torino - The main bad guy’s car.
Honda Acura NSX - Mia's car for the final scenes.
Nissan Skyline GTR - Brian's car for the majority of the film.
Fast Five (2011)
Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport - Old sports car used for the first big action scene
Dodge Challenger SRT-8 - Dom's new car at the end of the film.
Dodge Charger SRT-8 - The car used for the main action scene of the film.
Ford GT 40 - Another vintage car used for part of the story and in the first action sequence.
Koenigsegg CCXR - Roman and Tej both have one.
