The world’s smallest caravan has been revealed by a creative mechanic – could you go on holiday in this?

An inventive mechanic has built the world’s smallest caravan - otherwise known as ‘the cramper van’ - which is only 4 foot by 4 foot in size.

The miniature home’s living space may be small, but it has managed to accommodate four seats, a stove, a sink, a table and a bed. The interior has been cleverly designed so that it can seat four people – whether it could actually sleep four people, however, is doubtful.

If you’re already planning your first cramper van trip, you may need to do a bit of legwork, as there is no engine – it’s completely pedal powered! This will be good news for anyone without a driving license, as it’s officially classed as a bicycle.

The inventor, Andy Saunders, normally specialises in developing custom cars. He made the campervan out of an old Bedford Bambi caravan, which he cut down to size and fitted on top of a Butlins-style pedal cart. His creation only took him an impressive 2 weeks to finish.

Andy Saunders told the Daily Mail:

'We think our mini camper is the smallest camper in the world. I certainly don't know of anything else smaller.

'The Bedford Bambi was the smallest camper van ever made, and we've shaved about 6ft off that. If there was anything smaller I'd be very surprised.'

This isn’t the first of Andy’s creations – he has previously made a Picasso-inspired multi-coloured Citroen 2CV, a mini MINI and a 21-inch high car.

We may not have the cramper van on offer, but if you’re planning your own road trip this summer we’ve a great range of people carriers.
