Last night, the Rt. Hon. Nicola Sturgeon MSP, First Minister of Scotland, launched the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail, a major public art event that will run for 11 weeks from June to September next year.

Eddie Hawthorne, Arnold Clark Chief Executive & Group Managing Director, attended the launch, and was proud to announce Arnold Clark as the headline sponsor.

Supported by DC Thomson Media, Oor Wullie’s Bucket Trail has been organised by three of Scotland’s children’s hospitals (Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity and the ARCHIE Foundation) and international arts company, Wild in Art. The project aims to raise money for Scotland’s children and young people in hospital through the art trail, associated events and auctions.

Eddie Hawthorne said:

‘We’re delighted to be headline sponsors for the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail in 2019. This unique event not only gives people across Scotland the chance to come together and have fun, but it will raise vital funds for children’s hospitals across the country. We can’t wait to be involved in celebrating this true Scottish icon and helping to raise as much money as possible.’

This winter, a selection of Scotland’s artists will be invited to design a 5ft sculpture of one of the country’s most famous icons, Oor Wullie.

Next spring, schools across Scotland will take part in a trail and receive a Wee Oor Wullie to decorate themselves.

Hundreds of decorated sculptures will then be installed at various locations across Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee, Aberdeen and Inverness for everyone to enjoy.

To help with locating the statues, an app and trail map have been designed, offering you the chance to find them all.

At the end of the trail, all sculptures will be auctioned off to raise even more money for this worthwhile cause.

Jings! We canna wait for this braw trail!
