Make sure your pets are safe on any car journey

Whether going shopping, sightseeing or visiting friends, bringing your pet along for the ride can be great fun. However, it’s important to make sure you and your pet are well prepared to make the journey as enjoyable and comfortable as possible for driver and four-legged friend. Check out our tips below to ensure you have a purrfect road trip!

Pack wisely

Everyone has essentials they need to take for the road, so why should your pet be any different? A water bowl, bottled water, plastic bags, bedding, food and treats are all essentials for a smooth journey.

Safety first

Make sure your pet is safely restrained in your vehicle so they don’t distract the driver. Buy a harness to attach to the seat buckles to keep your pet in one place, or secure them in a spacious crate. Keeping your pet secure in the car will also keep them from being thrown about when travelling, and may help them become more comfortable while you’re on the move.

Buy pet insurance

Make sure you’re prepared for the unexpected. Pet insurance can protect your pet in the case of accidents or injuries. And if they happen to fall ill while travelling, it can give you more peace of mind as you know that any pet bills will be covered.

Take a paws!

Travelling can be tiring for both driver and passenger. If you’re embarking on a long road trip, take time off the road to stretch your legs. It will also give your four-legged friend the opportunity to go for a comfort break, avoiding any accidents on the road.
