On Wednesday 21st November, Arnold Clark held a graduation ceremony at the SEC Armadillo in Glasgow. The event marks the successful completion of the Group’s apprenticeship training.

Employees from throughout the business were commended, including:

  • Aftersales and parts apprentices
  • Service advisors
  • Customer service apprentices
  • IT professionals
  • Accountants
  • Business administrators

All graduates are in full-time work with Arnold Clark and have now secured a diploma.

At the end of the evening, Arnold Clark Chief Executive and Group Managing Director Eddie Hawthorne and GTG Training Director and Chairman Glen Gall awarded Vilius Pocius the Apprentice of the Year accolade. Vilius, who works at the car retailer’s Elgin Renault branch, has recently completed his Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 qualification.

Eddie Hawthorne hands Vilius Pocius £650 worth of tools for his hard work.

After receiving the award, Vilius said:

‘I wasn’t expecting this at all, but I enjoy my work. Working with cars – that’s what I love. I put everything I have into the job because I want to be good at it. I really liked the apprenticeship and enjoyed working and learning at the same time.’

Arnold Clark Renault Franchise Service Manager, Alex McMillan, said:

‘Vilius has a thirst to continue to learn new skills and is constantly seeking new challenges to improve his skill set. He is happy to take on new tasks and manages to complete them with relative ease due to his continued commitment and application.’

Vilius will now be continuing his career with the Group as a fully qualified technician.

The Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Level 3 qualification is the final step apprentice technicians need to take as part of a three-year training programme. Vilius gained his qualification with GTG Training, which opens its doors to thousands of apprentices every year.
