BMW recall update

We have previously been made aware of two faults that resulted in the recall of several BMW models.

We have been assured that all customers with affected vehicles have been contacted by BMW UK – however, we encourage our customers to keep an eye out for potential early warning signs of the following faults.

The B+ cable recall

This particular fault was identified in 2018 and affected BMW 1, X1, Z4, and 3 Series models. The issue relates to the B+ cable and blower regulator.

EGR recall

The fault concerns a possible glycol leak in exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve coolers.

Early warning signs include:

  • Seeing the low engine coolant warning message.
  • Seeing the check engine and/or drivetrain warning message.
  • A loss of power from the engine while driving.
  • Smell of exhaust gas and a whistling noise from the engine compartment.
  • Smoke developing from the engine compartment.

If you are experiencing any of these issues, please call BMW Emergency Services immediately on 0800 777 109 and they will be able to help you.
