It’s not as though you would ever need an excuse to visit the wonderful country that is Scotland but, if for some unknown reason you do, read on to discover more about Scotland’s most endearing attractions: the wildlife.

Believe it or not, you don’t have to travel far to catch a glimpse of some truly exciting wildlife, as Scotland is home to some of the most incredible creatures in the world. Arnold Clark Car and Van Rental is well equipped to help you out, as you can take advantage of their vast range of ready-to-rent vehicles to explore the Scottish wilds.

Ideal for sea-life lovers, Scotland boasts a real assortment of marine animals including grey seals, which can be found everywhere from Tentsmuir Point in the east and the Isle of Mull in the west, to the harbours of Shetland in the north and right down to the Mull of Galloway in the south. Ok we get the point: seals are everywhere in Scotland. But what else is there?

The answer to that question is never-ending! Forget about heading to the beaches of Florida for some dolphin-spotting, as these intelligent mammals can be seen skimming through the cold Scottish coastal seas along with their friends; the Eurasian otter, basking sharks and even a killer whale or two. All you have to do to frolic with the fishes is negotiate your Arnold Clark rental car on to the ferry and enjoy your sailing experience.

If staying on dry land is more your thing then do not fear: the countryside of Scotland has more than enough wildlife to suit every animal-lover. From the cute and cuddly red squirrel and Scottish wildcat to the poisonous adder snake… an everyday walk or drive in the country could turn out to be more exciting than predicted!

If walking sounds a bit too much like hard work, simply park your vehicle and look to the skies to view some seriously stunning birds of prey (no, I’m not talking about seagulls!). The number one (flying) predator, the golden eagle, can be spotted soaring over the snow-covered Scottish mountains. Scotland’s ‘tourist eagle’, the buzzard, can also be seen hovering over the city of Glasgow, which suits those who prefer to do a spot of bird-watching from the comfort of the metropolis.

Find out more from the Scottish Wildlife Trust, who champion the cause of Scottish wildlife and manage a network of nature reserves in the country.

Arnold Clark Car and Van Rental can make your wildlife-spotting that little bit easier, as we have over twenty branches conveniently located throughout Scotland.
