Ford Ranger Wolftrak takes the pick-up truck off road

This limited-edition Ford Ranger lets you take on the toughest terrain.

The Ford Ranger Wolftrak is coming soon.

The Ford Ranger Wolftrak is coming soon.

While the Ford Ranger offers everything you want from a pick-up truck as standard, there are some jobs that just need a little something extra. And so, Ford have introduced their latest special edition, the Wolftrak, which adds some extra off-road capability.

Hans Schep, General Manager, Commercial Vehicles, Ford of Europe explains: ‘Customers love the bold style and tough capability of our Ranger pick-up, so we’ve developed the new Stormtrak and Wolftrak limited edition models to offer even more of both. Wolftrak’s rugged off-road performance helps it comfortably take owners far off the beaten track for work and fun.’

Can you really take a pick-up off road?

The Wolftrak is based on the Ranger XLT series and is powered by a 170 PS 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine which delivers 420nM of torque; you can choose from either six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.

And to take on tough terrain and tricky inclines, there’s a selectable four-wheel drive system as well as electronically locking rear differential and low-range four-wheel drive settings to improve performance. As you’d expect, it’s got all-terrain tyres on the 17-inch alloys to provide optimum traction whenever you need it.

So, it still works as a practical pick-up?

This vehicle has been designed by Ford to appeal to those who work in outdoor industries like farming and forestry. As such, it offers a 1.0-tonne payload and has a maximum trailer weight of 3.5 tonnes, supported by a protective bed liner as standard. There’s also the option of a matte black rear canopy or manual roller cover.

What’s it like on the outside?

Even though this is a stripped down and practical vehicle, there are a few extra details as you might expect from a special edition. There’s black detailing across the vehicle with black alloys, along with matte black side mirrors and door handles. Adding to the imposing look are a matte black grille, bumpers and underbody protection with the rugged feel enhanced by a long-leg tubular sports bar and plastic moulded side steps. The look is completed with darkened Wolftrak badges on the door and tailgate. And there’s a great selection of colours provided; for example, grey comes in Sea Grey and Stealthy Conquer Grey as options.

What about the inside?

The black colour scheme continues inside with a matte black interior finish, alongside all-weather floor mats and a distinctive Wolftrak dashboard badge. There’s also a touch of luxury SYNC 3 entertainment system with touchscreen and navigation.

When’s it available?

The Ford Ranger Wolftrak will arrive in showrooms in October 2021 alongside the stylish Ranger Stormtrak, adding to a line-up which already includes the Ranger Raptor and the Ranger MS-RT.
