What is the Ford Focus ST Line X?

The Ford Focus is an iconic and familiar sight in the UK. It has been one of the most broadly popular cars on the market since its launch in 1999, primarily thanks to its enduring style and performance.

The Ford Focus ST Line X turns the Focus into a sporty family hatchback with an attractive interior and improved performance on the road. Launched in 2019, the ST Line X brings the Ford Focus more in line with the sporty look and feel of the Ford Focus ST, Ford’s performance model, while adding other premium features. Placed only one level down from the flagship Titanium X trim, the ST Line X is a high-level trim.

Ford Focus ST Line X History

The popular Ford Focus started its life in 1999 at its launch at the Geneva Motor Show. It quickly became a popular model in the family hatchback market before going on to have both estate and saloon variants. Standing for ‘Sports Technology’, the ST Line X trim was first introduced in 2019 as part of the Ford Focus Mk4’s trim line-up.

This trim replaced the Zetec S and combines the practicality of entry-level Ford Focus trims with the performance of the top-level ST. And while the ST Line included a host of new features, the ST Line X option comes with even more.

In its engine range, it comes with a three-cylinder, 180bhp, 1.5-litre EcoBoost engine which is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. It goes from 0-62mph in 8.3 seconds with a top speed of 138mph. It also comes with a smaller 1.0-litre engine which generates 125bhp.

On the outside, the trim launched with 18-inch bespoke alloy wheels, with a Pearl Grey finish was available as an option. This was an increase on the 17-inch alloys offered on the standard ST Line.

There is also a new rear spoiler and red brake callipers, which add to the trim’s sports-inspired design.

The ST Line X also comes with a range of interior cabin upgrades, such as a 13.2-inch infotainment touchscreen and 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. It was also released with a revamped infotainment system. The 10-speaker Bang and Olufsen premium sound system is an upgrade on the ST Line.

To round off the cabin’s style upgrade, this trim was launched with new dark headlining. This contrasts well with the red precision stitching which runs throughout the upholstery.

The Ford Focus ST Line X sits at the higher end of the trim-levels available for the Ford Focus. The ST Line X sits above the standard ST Line trim, which is based on the separate model, the Ford Focus ST, and below the Titanium trim range, which is the flagship trim for the Focus.
