After putting in the miles at this year’s Royal Bank of Scotland Kiltwalk in Glasgow, Scott Thomson is giving his feet a rest and taking his new car for a spin. The train driver from Yoker won a brand new Renault Clio at this year’s event, thanks to a donantion from Arnold Clark.
The 48-year-old walked the 15 miles of Big Stroll for Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus Scotland. His two-year-old great-niece Ella was born with Spina Bifida.
Scott was over the moon when he received the good news from Kiltwalk Chief Executive Paul Cooney. He said: 'My jaw still hurts from smiling. I’ve got three grandchildren so I’ll be giving plenty of lifts for the next wee while! I thought it was a joke. I have never won anything in my life before! A huge thank to the Kiltwalk and Arnold Clark. This is one of the best things that has ever happened to me.'
'It was a huge shock when Ella was born with the condition, but the charity has been so supportive to the whole family from the start. We try to do what we can to pull together and give back. We raised more than £400 on the day and the event was very special. The atmosphere made it feel like we were walking on the crest of a wave.'

Kiltwalks will take place in Aberdeen (4th June), Dundee (20th August) and Edinburgh (17th September).

Fundraising this year also received a boost from The Hunter Foundation and Sir Tom Hunter who underwrite costs for the events and have also pledged that 110% of all fundraising at each Kiltwalk will go to charity.
