BMW has revealed the new 4 Series Coupé, which is the fourth generation of BMW’s mid-size coupé (previously known as the BMW 3 Series Coupé). It's the first BMW to be given the '4 Series' classification.
BMW 4 Series trim levels include base, Sport Line, Luxury Line and M Sport packages (differentiated by interior and exterior colours and material choices).
The 4 Series is available with a colour head-up display, full LED headlights and 6.5-inch display including navigation and the iDrive interface.
A high performance M Sport M4 version with around 450bhp is expected at a later date.
All models come with a 6-speed manual gearbox but there will also be the option of an automatic gearbox with eight gears.
The new BMW 4 Series is better equipped than the 3 Series Coupe it replaces, with front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats, digital radio, leather seats, cruise control and air-conditioning all fitted as standard.
The new 4 Series also demonstrates improved styling (interior and exterior), a lower centre of gravity.
UK BMW 4 Series sales will start in October, with prices starting at £31,575 for a 420d SE.
BMW is expected to add a convertible and possibly a Gran Sport to the 4 Series range within the next 6 months.
BMW has extensive information on the 4 Series on their own website, including an interview with BMW Head of Design, Karim Habib. Our Harry Fairbairn BMW branches are located in Glasgow, Irvine and Kirkcaldy, and we'll be stocking the car from October.
