For used Peugeot 107 cars, choose Arnold Clark

The Peugeot 107 is a compact city car that expertly combines practicality with style. First launched in 2005, it’s a popular option among younger motorists, urbanites and those who have recently passed their driving test. Its design is sporty, featuring a flat rear and raked windscreen giving it a distinctive appeal, while the compact dimensions make it incredibly easy to manoeuvre, particularly in tight city spaces.

Peugeot 107 updates and facelifts

The Peugeot 107 shares a chassis with the Citroën C1 and Toyota Aygo, making these the model’s key competitors. All three models were awarded Business Car’s 2008 City Car award. The 107 also holds its own against rivals like the Volkswagen up!, SEAT Mii, and Škoda Citigo.

The Peugeot 107 received its first facelift in 2009. This enhanced its aesthetics and added improvements to its interior. The result was a polished and refined cabin that was more user-friendly and comfortable for both driver and passengers. In addition to cosmetic changes, the update also improved fuel economy and CO2 emissions. A second update came in 2012, giving the 107 a more curvaceous look. LED daytime running lights were also added and the trim structure was revised.

On the road, the Peugeot 107 offers an engaging driving experience. It comes equipped with a 1.0-litre engine that delivers enough power for city driving, all while offering fuel efficiency that is impressive and economical. The model also boasts low CO2 emissions meaning low road tax, and affordable insurance premiums that make it ideal for all motorists looking for affordability.

The Peugeot 107 ceased production in 2014, being replaced by a new model named the 108.

Practicality and style of the car

Despite its compact dimensions, the front of the cabin offers good space, and the seats are comfortable even on long journeys. Steering is adjustable for height, ensuring you will be able to find a comfortable driving position. The rear seats are best suited to younger passengers, although the car will accommodate a pair of adults for short trips. Storage cubbies include a glovebox and well-sized door bins.

Though it may be compact, the Peugeot 107 makes efficient use of its available space, particularly when it comes to boot capacity. The 139-litre compartment has been designed with urban living in mind, providing enough room for shopping, school bags or even weekend bags. There are also 50/50 split folding rear seats, which can extend the boot capacity to 751 litres. This transforms the Peugeot 107 into a surprisingly versatile vehicle, capable of accommodating much larger items effortlessly.

Running costs

The Peugeot 107 is an economical choice for both new and experienced drivers, thanks to its low running costs. When it comes to insurance, most variants of the car fall into group 3 out of 50, making it comparable to rivals such as the Toyota Aygo and Volkswagen up!.

As for road tax, the 107 costs no more than £20 per year, with some variants being completely exempt from VED. This makes it an attractive option for those looking to minimise ongoing expenses and comes courtesy of the car's eco-friendly design, which meets stringent emissions standards.

How a used Peugeot 107 drives

A single engine option complements the compact design and urban agility of the Peugeot 107. This 998cc three-cylinder petrol powertrain is not just light but also spirited, producing 68bhp. When it comes to acceleration, the vehicle reaches 62mph from a standstill in 14.2 seconds with the manual gearbox. If you opt for the innovative 2-Tronic semi-automatic gearbox, a 0–62mph time of 14.9 seconds is delivered.

Performance is not just about speed. The 107 also offers exceptional fuel efficiency. The manual version offers up to 65.7mpg, while the 2-Tronic version provides 62.8mpg. CO2 emissions are equally noteworthy – just 99g/km for the manual and 104g/km for the 2-Tronic – making it a green choice in the city car segment.

For entertainment on the go, all trims of the 107 come equipped with a CD radio and an MP3 socket, ensuring you have a variety of listening options. Top-of-the-range models also offer Bluetooth connectivity, allowing you to stream music from your smartphone.

Air conditioning is available in the higher specification trim levels, ensuring a comfortable driving experience in all weathers. The 107 comes equipped with four airbags as standard and includes a passenger airbag deactivation switch for added flexibility. Models available from July 2013 onwards also incorporate side impact and thorax airbags on all versions, enhancing the car's overall safety profile. ISOFIX child seat anchoring points are standard for the outer rear seats, making the 107 a suitable choice for families seeking a smart and capable runaround.

Beyond these, the Peugeot 107 incorporates advanced braking and stability technologies. ABS is standard and is complemented by electronic brake force distribution and cornering stability control, ensuring a safer driving experience in various conditions.

Trims available on the Peugeot 107

Peugeot 107 Urban

The initial trim offered when the Peugeot 107 was introduced was the Urban model. This trim came equipped with electric power steering, driver and passenger airbags, and a CD radio with an MP3 socket. Safety features included ABS with EBD (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) and CSC (Cornering Stability Control). Additional amenities such as remote central door locking, electric windows, and 50/50 split folding rear seats with ISOFIX mountings were also standard. The Urban trim was further distinguished by body-coloured door mirrors and handles, side-rubbing strips, and a rigid removable rear parcel shelf.

Peugeot 107 Urban Lite

In November 2006, Peugeot launched the Urban Lite as an even more affordable and basic option. This trim retained core features like electric power steering, airbags, and the CD stereo with an MP3 socket, and also included ABS with EBD and CSC for enhanced safety. The Urban Lite was available in three distinct colours: Laser Red, Citrus Yellow, and Raven Black.

Peugeot 107 Sport XS

The Sport XS trim was introduced in January 2007, adding a sporty flair to the lineup. While the equipment levels remained identical to the Urban trim, the Sport XS stood out with its coloured stripes, alloy wheels, and red interior trim, the colour of which depended on the finish of the main body.

Peugeot 107 Verve

At the top of the range is the Verve trim, offering a more luxurious driving experience. This trim level includes air conditioning and 14-inch alloy wheels. A rev counter is also standard, providing drivers with more detailed performance information. Exclusive to the Verve is the availability of the Mandolin Orange paintwork, adding an extra touch of uniqueness to this top-tier model.
