Here are some of the best cars selected for new and student drivers

We have selected safe, but also pocket saving cars!

Summer is on the horizon and with more free time on students’ hands, there’s no better time to learn how to drive. The brighter nights and drier weather (fingers crossed) will give a better chance of being comfortable and more confident behind the wheel. With this in mind, whether you are a first time driver or a student driver, we have suggested cars that would best suit you.

1) Ford Fiesta

Designed in 1976, the 6th generation Fiesta was launched in 2010. A survey carried out by Autocar in April 2013, revealed the Fiesta to be Britain’s best selling car. With spacious seats in both the back and front, you will be the new taxi driver to family and friends.

2) Ford KA

This small Ford car is great for city drivers and especially easy for those daunting parallel parks around town. Folding rear seats allows the Ka greater boot space if need be, while the matching interior to the exterior colour creates a young, fun and stylish vibe.

3) KIA C’eed

KIA is so sure of the reliability of its vehicles that they offer a 7-year/100,000 mile warranty when bought new. Being awarded 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests, and with both spacious front and back seating, the C’eed is convenient for those who will be travelling long distances and one of the best cars for students throughout the UK.

4) Volkswagen Up

The current Up is the first model of its type. This modern mini car is both economical and easy to drive; with light steering meaning parking is not an arm work out either.

5) Peugeot 208

The first model was unveiled in 2011 and its road presence hasn’t gone unnoticed. Perfect for city driving, the 208 is sharp and nifty with models available from 1.0litre to 1.6litre. The chrome edging on the interior creates an expensive finish and the touch screen media kit available gives the 208 an extra attractive lead against competitors.

6) Volkswagen Polo

With the generous discounts and deals available the Polo has always been a reliable and popular choice of car within the supermini market. Now in its’ fifth generation, the Polo is a great cheap choice for students.

7) Fiat 500

The Fiat 500 has been raved about since its re-launch in 2007. This modern design was a re-creation of Dante Giacosa’s 1957 rear engine Fiat 500. With an array of colours available, there is a 500 to suit everyone, and with no road tax costs on the Twin Air Pop, it’s the perfect choice to keep your pennies in your pockets!
