What is a coupé car and what makes a car a coupé?
Nowadays, in the automotive industry coupé refers to a body style of car with a fixed-top, oblique-style roof and lean chassis. Coupé cars typically prioritise style, performance and aerodynamics over practicality and space.
There are many different types of coupés including two-door, three-door and four-dour variations. Number of seats inside a coupé will vary between two, four and five for some of the larger Gran Coupé models.
A concern for some may be that these types of cars have less cargo capacity and boot space than other larger models. However, if we take the BMW 4 Series in its coupé form, it has a boot size of 440-litres, that’s the same amount of literage offered in a Toyota Verso, a seven-seater MPV and the Volkswagen Taigo, a crossover SUV!
The make and model of your chosen coupé will dictate the number of doors, seats and size of boot included, so remember to do your research before making your decision.
