About your lease

What is included in the Motability lease package?

The Motability Scheme's leasing package includes:

  • Insurance from RSA Motability
  • Servicing and maintenance
  • Full RAC breakdown assistance
  • Annual car tax
  • Kwik Fit replacement tyres
  • Windscreen repair/replacement
  • 60,000 mileage allowance over three years (or 100,000 for WAV customers)
  • Many adaptations at no extra cost
What happens to your advance payment at the end of your lease?

Your advance payment is not a deposit and is non-refundable.

Am I able to end my Motability Scheme lease early?

If you need to end your agreement early, you can call the Motability Customer Services team on 0300 456 4566 and they’ll review your circumstances. There is a £250 administration fee from Motability to cover their costs, and you will waive your right to a Good Condition bonus. Once you’ve returned the vehicle, your advance payment may be refunded to you on a pro-rata basis. However, if you cancel more than three times in a seven-year period, your eligibility may be affected.

Visit the Motability Scheme website to find more information about ending your lease early.

What happens at the end of my Motability Scheme lease?

You can:

  • Select another car to lease via the Motability Scheme for three years.
  • Find out if you can keep your current car for longer.
  • Return your Motability vehicle and have your full allowance reinstated.

It’s a good idea to plan your next lease vehicle a few months before the end of the agreement. Motability will send you their guide to leasing your next car and their car price guide, then you can contact Arnold Clark and speak to one of our Motability specialists.

When should I start thinking about leasing my next Motability Scheme car?

You can order your next Motability car three months before your lease expires; however, it’s a good idea to start thinking about your next vehicle a few months before this. At this stage, get in touch with your local Motability dealer and advise them of the make and model you’re interested in. They will then be able to give you more information and arrange a test drive.

About your vehicle

What adaptations can I get to my Motability vehicle?

With over 500 vehicle adaptations available, we can help you choose the right adaption for your needs – whether you need support to drive, to get in and out of your vehicle or to store equipment. Explore the adaptations available here.

How much does it cost to lease a vehicle through the Motability Scheme?

There are three pricing options to choose from when leasing your new Motability vehicle.

  • Some vehicles cost less than your weekly allowance, meaning you have money left over to spend on the things you need.
  • Other vehicles cost the same as your weekly allowance, meaning you simply need to exchange your allowance to lease the vehicle.
  • Some cost more than your weekly allowance and will require an advance payment to be paid up front to cover the difference.
Can my Motability Scheme car be delivered to me?

Yes, if you are struggling to get to your local branch, then we are more than happy to deliver your Motability car to you.

Do you have wheelchair accessible vehicles?

We currently don’t offer WAV vehicles.

How often should I have my Motability Scheme vehicle serviced?

You should follow your manufacturer recommendations for having your Motability vehicle serviced. It will depend on what sort of vehicle you have, how long you’ve had it and its mileage. You should have received a manual and service book with your car, which we’d recommend you refer to.

Can I collect my Motability Scheme car at one of your Click and Collect branches?

No, as all motability cars are brand new cars, these must be collected from one of our approved Motability branches which you can find here.

Electric Cars

Can I get an electric car on Motability Scheme?

Yes. Arnold Clark has many electric and hybrid car options for Motability customers from as little as £0 advance payment.

How do I charge my electric Motability Scheme car?

If you lease an electric car through the Motability Scheme, a home charge point is included at no extra cost for customers.

To get a home charge point fitted, you must have off-road parking. If off-road parking is not available, you’ll be given access to a network of charging points for easy on-street charging. Find out more about electric car charging on the Motability Scheme.
