What is Autocare®?

No matter how well a vehicle is serviced or how carefully you maintain it, something can go wrong which may be expensive and inconvenient. Autocare® provides a £6,000 claim limit* and ensures that you are covered against the unexpected mechanical and electrical breakdown of key vehicle components.

What does Autocare cover?

Autocare covers a wide range of parts on your car. You can see the full list in our policy booklet here.

What is not covered by Autocare?

Anything that would be considered routine maintenance, or normal wear and tear is not covered by Autocare. We’ve listed everything that’s covered in our policy booklet here.

How do I buy Autocare?

You can purchase Autocare when you buy a vehicle from Arnold Clark or within 60 days of your purchase. Your product consultant will be happy to guide you through the process.

How much does Autocare cost?

Autocare starts at just £349, but the price depends on your vehicle’s make, model, age and mileage.

Can I buy Autocare when I’m not buying a car?

No. But you can buy Autocare for cars purchased within the last 60 days from Arnold Clark. Just speak to your product consultant for more information.

Can I buy Autocare while my car has a manufacturer warranty?

If your car is still in manufacturer warranty when you buy it, you can still buy Autocare and the policy will begin once your manufacturer warranty expires.

How do I claim on my Autocare policy?

As soon as you become aware of an issue with your vehicle, you should visit an Arnold Clark branch to have the fault diagnosed by one of our technicians. Your branch will then contact Autocare to authorise the work.

If you cannot make it to an Arnold Clark branch, you should take the vehicle to an approved VAT registered garage and have them prepare a quote and verify your vehicle has been maintained in line with manufacturer requirements. They should then contact Autocare claims via 1Link, or by calling 0141 352 5200 (Lines open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm)

What do I do if I breakdown?

As part of your Autocare policy, you benefit from breakdown cover. In the event of a breakdown, please call 0141 332 2622 to arrange recovery or assistance.

I have already paid for work on my car, can I get a refund?

Provided the work carried out would be covered by your Autocare warranty, and you can provide VAT invoices, we will be able to refund any work already carried out. This must be done within 30 days of any repairs being carried out. Please email autocare@arnoldclark.com or write to Autocare c/o Arnold Clark Finance, 454 Hillington Road, Glasgow, G52 4FH.

Can I transfer my Autocare policy to another vehicle?

No. Autocare policies are assigned to the vehicle, not the individual.

Can I transfer my Autocare policy to a new owner?

Yes, if you are selling your vehicle privately. You should fill in the transfer of ownership declaration in the back of the policy book (here) and send it to: Autocare c/o Arnold Clark Finance Limited, 454 Hillington Road, Glasgow, G52 4FH.

Can I cancel Autocare?

You can cancel Autocare within 30 days of purchasing the policy as long as no claims have been made, by writing to Autocare c/o Arnold Clark Finance, 454 Hillington Road, Glasgow, G52 4FH. Please include your vehicle registration number and details of the request. Refunds will be processed within 10 working days of your request, and will come directly from the Arnold Clark branch where the policy was purchased.

How do I make a complaint about Autocare?

If you do experience a problem with Autocare, please get in touch with the branch you made the purchase from. If no resolution is reached, please contact our Customer Services team on 0141 648 1088. The Arnold Clark Autocare® 1- & 2-year mechanical warranty has been designed to meet the demands and needs of as many of our customers as possible and will, as a result of mechanical or electrical breakdown of your vehicle, repair your vehicle or will meet the reasonable costs of repair incurred during the term of the warranty in accordance with the warranty terms, conditions and exclusions. A copy of the terms, conditions and exclusions (including a complaints procedure) is available on request.
