How practical an BMW iX2 day to day?

  • Depending on the specific trim you choose boot space ranges between 575-585 litres with all 5 seats in use, expanding to 1,400 litres with the rear bench folded.
  • The iX2 supports both AC and DC charging — AC for home and work and DC for fast top-ups. Note that DC charging is limited to 130kW.
  • The dual-motor AWD version gives great acceleration, but the range drops when compared to the front-motor version; if range and efficiency matter more to you than sportiness, the entry-level version would be the more sensible choice.
  • Inside the cabin, the front seats offer good side and shoulder support with a decent amount of seat-base adjustment space.
  • For growing families interested in ISOFIX points, you get three; two in the outer rear seats and one in the front passenger seat.

Standout safety features and facts

The iX2 is the electric version of the X2 which received a 5-star Euro NCAP score. As the models are so similar, the X2’s score is usually referenced as the iX2’s. However, the model still has not been tested independently.

Standout safety features include multiple driver-assist features including lane departure warnings, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring and parking-related aids.

Cockpit and controls

  • The model’s digital instrument cluster and central infotainment screen merge in a unified panel with “curved display”, it looks and feels high-tech.
  • You get BMW’s innovative BMW OS and iDrive software and all typical modern connectivity you would expect, including smartphone integration.
  • Most controls are operated digitally through the infotainment system, but BMW has ensured a few physical buttons and knobs remain on the centre console for ease of access i.e., volume and skip track, drive mode selector and parking assist.
  • Cupholders, door pockets and multiple smaller cubbies help keep the cockpit and cabin clear and clutter-free.
  • A wireless-charging pad and plenty of USB-C ports come as standard on the iX2 as well.
  • You’ll find heated front seats and ambient lighting in flagship trims.

From launch to latest updates
