The R-Sport was the Jaguar XE’s mid-level trim – sitting above the SE and Prestige and below the Portfolio and Landmark. The trim range was changed as part of the car’s facelift in 2020, which removed the R-Sport as an option. The automatic is 0.2 seconds faster.

The faster 2.0-litre diesel has 180bhp and 380Nm of torque with a manual gearbox and 430Nm of torque with an automatic. The manual goes from 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds, with the automatic slightly faster at 7.8 seconds. The highest-spec 2.0-litre is packed with 240bhp and 500Nm of torque, which achieves 0-62mph in just 6.1 seconds.

If you’d prefer petrol, there’s an eight-speed automatic 2.0-litre available in three different levels of power. The 197bhp option is the entry-level, which uses 320Nm of torque to go from 0-62mph in 7.1 seconds. Next is the mid-range 250bhp, 365Nm of torque option, which reaches 62mph in 6.3 seconds. The most powerful 300bhp reaches 0-62mph in 5.5 seconds thanks to its 400Nm of torque.
