The new Volkswagen Polo is bigger and more advanced than ever, able to take on hatches like the Fiesta and the Fabia and win. The incredible 2017 version also includes:
The Volkswagen Polo comes in a spectrum of 13 cool body colours.
For over 40 years, the Volkswagen Polo has been one of the world’s favourite superminis. Today, the sixth generation Polo continues to outshine the rest.
Originally starting life as an Audi 50, the small but perfectly formed Polo has always boasted sharp design and stylish bodywork.
It was an instant hit in Europe, where the Polo became the supermini of choice.
The Polo’s design added a more practical sloping back window (called a ‘squareback’) and the Mk2 came in two body styles, the hatchback and coupé. 1983 saw sales hit the 1,000,000 mark.
A 1990 facelift squared off the headlights, bigged up the bumpers and a fuel injection model was added to the range.
The third generation Mk3 threw out the hard lines and sharp corners and reinvented the Polo as a curvaceous, sporty number. Five doors, power steering and ABS were added – world firsts for Volkswagen.
The Polo GTI was the most powerful yet, and came in three snazzy shades – Diamond Black Pearl Effect, Flash Red and Satin Silver Metallic.
The fourth generation Polo made sure it stayed cool with the introduction of an automatic air conditioning system, plus advanced safety features like ESP.
In 2006, the Polo BlueMotion was introduced, bringing a highly efficient 72mpg.
The Polo continued its reign as one of the world's most popular superminis with its fifth iteration, which added space, a range of impressive engines and a quality build that was second to none.
14 million Polos have been sold worldwide since it first rolled off the production line.
The new Polo is here, and it’s bigger, sleeker and more expressive than ever, boasting Volkswagen’s innovative Active Info Display and safety features.
And with a 2.0-litre GTI version capable of 200bhp, the 2017 Polo leaves other superminis in the dust.
