The Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer was originally called the Grand C4 Picasso until 2018. Originally launched in 2006, the Grand C4 SpaceTourer received an update in 2018 which replaced the 1.6-litre BlueHDi diesel engine with a 1.5-litre BlueHDi engine. It also had some subtle interior design changes and the inclusion of more safety features, as more camera-driven technology was installed onto the vehicle.

Practicality and style of the car

The Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer has a large boot space that makes it perfect for transporting large amounts of luggage and items. With all seven seats up, the Grand C4 SpaceTourer has a 165-litre boot, which can be expanded to 632 litres by folding down the third row of seats. The middle row of seats can slide forward offering an extra 161 litres of space. Fold down the middle row and reveal a total of 2,181 litres of space.

In comparison to its rivals, the Grand C4 SpaceTourer offers more space than the Volkswagen Touran which has 137 litres of boot space, which becomes 1,857 litres with the seats folded. The Grand C4 SpaceTourer also offers more space than the Ford S-MAX which has a capacity of just 700 litres with the middle row folded down.

The loading bay is flat, and there is no loading lip which makes lifting heavy items into the boot easy. If the driver’s hands are full, a hands-free tailgate can feature on the Grand C4 SpaceTourer which opens by simply waving a foot under the rear bumper.

There is only one petrol engine available with the Grand C4 SpaceTourer. The 1.2-litre PureTech turbocharged petrol engine can put down 128bhp and achieves 0 to 62mph in 10 seconds. This engine has a good fuel economy, returning between 54.3 and 55.4mpg.

Interior

The interior of the Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer is spacious and comfortable, with the large windows helping to make the cabin feel larger. The dashboard has a modern look, giving the interior an attractive and stylish feel.

There is plenty of space for all seven passengers in the Citroën Grand C4 SpaceTourer and a good amount of legroom and headroom. The three independently sliding middle seats provide access to the rear two seats.

In the front, there is a deep cubby behind the gear lever, a good-sized glovebox, a second cubby on the centre console and door bins. The Shine flagship trim includes semi-autonomous parking that allows the car can park itself using the sensors and cameras located around the car. The driver must operate the accelerator and brakes while the car does the rest. The Grand C4 SpaceTourer can also come with hill start assist which holds the car in place while getting ready to accelerate and move off.

Safety

The Grand C4 SpaceTourer scored a full five stars on the NCAP safety test and scored a commendable 86% and 88% on adult and child occupant protection respectively.
