App Bookings

Can I pre-book a charge?

Yes, there is no need to wait for a charger to become available if you pre-book a charging session via the app.

How do I find Arnold Clark Charge sites to book my charge slot?

You can find all Arnold Clark Charge sites in the app via the My Charging home screen. There is a map which shows the location of all our chargers.

How do you book an assisted charge?

Call the branch ahead of time and we can provide you with any assistance you need. If you would prefer, you can email us on charge.assistance@arnoldclark.com.

What is the maximum amount of time I can book a charge for?

You can book a 20-minute, 40-minute or 60-minute charge.

Do I need to book a charge, or can I just turn up?

You can book a charging session up to seven days in advance. Alternatively, you can turn up and book a session but charging bays will be subject to availability.

Can customers who did not buy an EV from Arnold Clark still use the bookable system?

Yes, anyone can download the Arnold Clark app and book a charge.

I prefer booking, Can I still do that?

Yes, if you prefer a guaranteed charge, you can book a charge via the Arnold Clark app. Please note, anyone can download the Arnold Clark app, create an account and book a charge.

What bay should I go to at an Arnold Clark Charge site?

We have branded our Charge sites to make it as easy as possible for you to identify where to charge. If you have booked via the app, you will be assigned an app booking bay number. Our app booking bays will have yellow branded signage and each bay will have a bay number clearly displayed. Our Pay & Go bays are branded grey and green and are available on a first come, first served basis.


Pay & Go

What is Pay & Go

Pay & Go bays are available on a first-come first-served basis and payment at these bays can be made via contactless or roaming. There is no requirement to book a charge at these bays.

What happens if I'm a customer and the slots are full but the Pay & Go bays are free? Do I get priority?

No, Pay & Go bays are first come first served; if you want to guarantee a charge, you can book a bay via the Arnold Clark app.

What is roaming and how do I access it?

Roaming allows you to access Arnold Clark Charge points using third-party apps or charge cards. Current roaming partners include Octopus Electroverse, Zap-Pay, and Plug Surfing (including AllStar).

What bay should I go to at an Arnold Clark Charge site?

How to I start a charge when paying via contactless?

Please plug in the charger connector first to activate the contactless reader.

What contactless payment methods do you accept?

We currently accept the following payment methods: Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay and Google Pay. American express payments - coming soon

Where can I get a receipt for my Charge?

Payment

Can I pay contactless on site?

Yes - you can pay contactless at our Pay & Go chargers. Please note, if you make an app booking, you will need to make your payment within the app.

Is there an overstay charge?

No, there is no overstay charge at present, but please be mindful of other bookings that may be booked after you.

How do I pay?

For app bookings, you pay via the Arnold Clark app. For Pay & Go, you can pay with contactless or via our roaming partners. If you have any issues with payment, please pop into branch.

What is the tariff?

We're offering an introductory rate of 55p/kWh for contactless, while our app bookings rate remains at 55p/kWh. There is no connection fee or minimum fee.

Failed charge, how long will it take for my pre-authorisation to return?

The pre-authorisation will be automatically refunded, the amount of time this takes will depend on your bank provider.

Will I be charged for my missed session?

No, you won't be.

Will the chargers be on roaming providers such as Zapmap?

Yes our chargers will be available on multiple roaming platforms including: Zapmap (Zap Pay), Plug Surfing, Octopus Electroverse and Allstar.

How do I pay at the Pay & Go bays?

You can pay via contactless payment cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay as well as Amend to compatible roaming providers (Zap-Pay, Octopus Electroverse and Plug Surfing, including Allstar).

Is the price the same for App bookings and Pay & Go?

We're offering an introductory rate of 55p/kWh for contactless, while our app bookings rate remains at 55p/kWh.


Charging

How fast are the chargers?

All of our chargers are ultra-rapid chargers with a maximum charging rate of up to 150kW.

What connector types do you have?

At every site we'll have both CCS and CHAdeMO charger connectors.

How do you start a charge if your phone runs out of battery?

Pop into the branch during opening hours and our friendly staff can help.

What do I do if i'm running late to my booked charge?

You can start your session up until the session slot time ends.

Will my charging session automatically stop at the end of my booking slot?

No, your charging session will not automatically stop. Please be mindful of others that might be booked on after you.

How do I start a charge without any signal or data?

At our branches you can use our complimentary wifi on-site. Please ensure you accept the terms and conditions when connecting.

Why may I not be getting the maximum charging rate?

Every car will have a maximum DC charging rate. Charging speeds can be impacted by many factors such as your cars charging capability, car charging limitations, as well as charging conditions and the DC charging curve (you can learn about the DC charging curve here - www.arnoldclark.com/electric-cars/resources.

Please note, our units will display a "Vehicle limits" icon, this means the vehicle is dictating the maximum charging speed.

How do you use Arnold Clark Charge?

You can either pre-book a charging slot via the Arnold Clark app or you can turn up on site and pay by contactless or roaming at our Pay & Go bays.

What is Arnold Clark Charge?

Arnold Clark Charge is Arnold Clark's UK-wide ultra-rapid charging network.

Who is Arnold Clark Charge for?

Arnold Clark Charge is available for any EV driver.

What are the opening times?

Opening hours can vary from site to site, so please check opening hours here or in the app.

Can I charge my van?

Yes, if your van has CCS or ChAdeMO charging capability and is fully electric, you can charge your electric van with us.

What vehicles can charge on Arnold Clark Charge?

Only battery electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles which have CCS or CHAdeMO connector types are eligible to use the network.

Are there any amenities on-site?

All of our branches have complimentary wifi, coffee, toilets and seating areas in-branch which users are welcome to enjoy during opening hours. Some of our sites also serve food in our Cafe 1954s.

Can I see my session history?

Yes, you can view your charging history via the app (on the My Charging dashboard).

What happens if I miss my session?

Don't worry if you miss your session. If you can please cancel the session ahead of time.

Are there more Charge sites being opened?

Yes, you can check the status of future sites by visiting www.arnoldclark.com/charge.

What is the difference between app bookings and Pay & Go bays?

App booking bays are reserved for app users only and this guarantees a Charge at a time and place that suits you – to book a charge simply download the Arnold Clark app. Pay & Go bays are available on a first come, first served basis and are available to anyone.

How do I get a receipt for my Charge?

If booking via the app, you can view your receipt after your charge in the app. If using a Pay & Go charger you can scan the QR code on the charger screen to request a receipt or you can fill out a form here.
