For used Vauxhall Crossland cars, choose Arnold Clark

The very first Vauxhall Crossland was launched in 2017 under the name of Crossland X. It marked a shift in the British brand’s SUV offering, bringing a truly competitive and compelling option to the market. Arriving alongside the larger Grandland, it now occupies the middle of the Vauxhall SUV range, sitting between the Grandland and the compact Mokka.

Vauxhall Crossland updates and facelifts

Rebranded as simply the Crossland towards the end of 2021, this family-friendly SUV has a modern aesthetic with its blanked-off front grille and LED headlights. This look not only adds a touch of sophistication but also positions the Crossland as a trendy option in a highly competitive segment. Rivals include the Nissan Juke, Renault Captur, and Ford Puma.

A range of engine options includes 1.2-litre petrol units and 1.5-litre diesels, all of which deliver powerful performance and impressive efficiency. Design-wise, the interior of the Crossland stands out from the competition. From the ample rear legroom and headroom that makes it an excellent choice for families, to a sizable boot and sliding rear bench for enhanced practicality, the Vauxhall Crossland provides all you need for both daily errands and longer journeys. The standard 7- or 8-inch touchscreen, complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto also adds a layer of modern convenience.

The Vauxhall Crossland underwent a significant update in 2021 when the car received a stylish facelift. Formerly known as the Vauxhall Crossland X, the SUV dropped the 'X' from its name to signify a new era. This facelift wasn't just cosmetic; it also brought about functional improvements, with the addition of LED headlights across all trim levels, enhancing visibility and safety.

Practicality and style of the car

The Vauxhall Crossland's interior has been crafted with a focus on practicality and function, offering a comfortable and spacious environment for all occupants. In the front, you’ll find ample room with seats that offer a wide range of adjustments, ensuring a comfortable driving experience. The elevated seating position, a hallmark of mid-size SUVs, also adds to the overall comfort and provides improved visibility of the road ahead. Moving to the rear, seats provide a good amount of space for two adults but are perfect for three children.

In its standard configuration, the SUV offers a generous 410-litre boot, putting it on par with competitors like the ŠKODA Kamiq and Renault Captur. While there is a slight boot lip, the height adjustable boot floor addresses this effectively, making it easy to load and unload items.

One of the model’s standout features is its sliding rear bench, which enables you to expand the boot to 520 litres – a figure comparable to larger vehicles. It comes as standard on all models except the entry-level SE. If you need even more cargo space, the rear seats can be folded down to make 1,255 litres of total capacity available.

In terms of dimensions, the Crossland measures 4,212mm in length, closely matching the Nissan Juke. It's narrower at 1,776mm but stands taller at 1,605mm, giving it a distinctive road presence and greater headroom. It can also tow up to 870kg of braked weight, making it able to pull small trailers and trailer tents.

Running costs

The Vauxhall Crossland is a cost-effective choice for those with an eye on running costs. Whether you’re driving a petrol or diesel model, you’ll pay the standard road tax charge of £180 per year.

Insurance costs are also reasonable too, with the entry-level 1.2-litre 108bhp variant falling into insurance group 15 out of 50. If you opt for the top-of-the-range Ultimate 128bhp automatic, you'll be looking at insurance group 19. Premiums are competitive when compared to rivals like the Kia Niro, which falls into insurance group 20.

How a used Vauxhall Crossland drives

Engine options in the Vauxhall Crossland include a choice between 1.2-litre petrol engines and 1.5-litre diesel powertrains, each of which are shared with the Peugeot 2008 and Citroën C3 Aircross. The entry-level 1.2-litre petrol unit produces 81bhp, meaning a 0-62mph time of 14 seconds and fuel economy of 55.4mpg.

For those seeking a bit more power, turbocharged versions with 108bhp or 128bhp are also available. The former offers a combined efficiency of up to 48.7mpg, a 0-62mph acceleration time of 10.2 seconds and emissions of 129g/km of CO2. The former comes with a six-speed manual gearbox and the latter is mated to six-speed automatic transmission. The 108bhp variant can take you from 0-62mph in as little as 10.5 seconds and provides up to 62.8mpg on the combined cycle.
