A Vauxhall Astra was stolen from our Morecambe Vauxhall branch on Saturday.

The British-built Astra was the first all-new Vauxhall to get the new in-car technology, OnStar, in October last year.

One of the key features of Vauxhall OnStar is Stolen Vehicle Assistance.

The technology allows the owner of the vehicle to trace their car and pass this information on to police so that the car can be recovered.

After noticing the Astra was missing from the branch, we got in touch with OnStar to see if they could use this feature to help us find the car.

Sure enough, they could.

The company was also able to immobilise the car remotely so that the ignition could not be started.

Using the information provided by OnStar, the police managed to locate the car, which had found its way to Manchester.

Peter Vail, our Vauxhall Operations Manager exclaimed,

‘We would never have seen this car again if it wasn’t for OnStar. What a great testimonial for the service which is free for the first year on many new Vauxhalls.’
