What is the Audi Q3 S line?

As one of Audi’s most popular models, the compact SUV, the Q3, has a stylish exterior and a practical interior. Launched in 2011 as part of Audi’s Q line-up, the Q3 was designed to be a smaller version of the Q5, matching its premium exterior and interior design.

Built for families, the Q3 offers passengers plenty of space on long journeys as well as offering a good amount of space for luggage. The well-built interior helps improve the comfort and overall feel of the vehicle when driving, especially with the S line adding a series of luxury features. This helps the Q3 S line to compete well on the popular SUV market against other models, such as the BMW X1 xLine, the Mercedes-Benz GLA, the Hyundai Tucson Premium and the Kia Sportage 3.

Audi Q3 S line history

Originally launched in 2011, the Audi Q3 has evolved to provide owners with a sporty compact SUV which offers good performance and practicality. The Mk1 was designed to be a smaller version of the Audi Q5, while not diminishing the quality of the car. The variety had a top speed of 143mph and achieved 0 to 62mph in 6.9 seconds.

The Mk1 received a facelift in 2015 which gave the Q3 some subtle design changes to the front and rear bumpers. The Q3’s engines also got an upgrade across the board providing extra power to the entry-level engines.

A second facelift came in 2016 which saw the S line being introduced as the range-topping trim on the Q3. The S line was introduced across a series of Audi models as a more affordable alternative to S badged models. With the ‘S’ standing for ‘Sports,’ the S line trim adds some sporty features to the standard Audi Q3 model.

Featuring a unique body kit, with redesigned front and rear bumpers and S line branding on the front wings and side skirts. The interior also received some design changes, most notably some more S line branding on the three-spoke steering wheel and on the front sports seats. Coming with a new 3.0-litre diesel engine and sports suspension, the Q3 S line had a top speed of 147mph and achieved 0 to 62mph in 5.8 seconds.

The S line returned as the flagship trim in the Mk2 Q3, which was released in 2018. In 2019, the Vorsprung trim was added and sits above the S line. The S line comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, stiffer sports suspension and front sports seats. Among its range of body kit upgrades, the S line has signature badges across the front and rear bumpers.

Where does the Audi Q3 S line sit in the range?

The Audi Q3 S line is the penultimate trim-level available for the Q3. Sitting below the flagship trim, the Black Edition, the S line offers drivers a unique-looking vehicle with premium features that stand out from the crowd. Audi has made sure to keep the S line trim available with all the engines available across the range allowing drivers to choose the best engine to suit their preferences.

What features and equipment does the S-Line have?

Separating from the main line-up of Audi Q3s in 2016, the Q3 S line stands out from other trims in the range by providing extra luxury features on both the exterior and interior. These have helped the Q3 S line become an attractive choice for drivers looking for something extra on their cars.

The interior includes luxury leather upholstery on the front sports seats and on the rear seats. Armrests on the doors and on the centre console are also upholstered with leatherette. Leatherette is a smooth textured artificial leather, which enhances the upmarket and quality interior of the Q3 S line. The interior also features high-quality materials in other places such as the black headlining, stainless steel pedals and brushed aluminium highlights around the cabin, also featuring S line branding and ambient lighting.

Owners of the Q3 can also expect to find plenty of onboard entertainment. On the Mk3, the Q3 S line comes with an infotainment system with an integrated sat nav and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Being slightly tilted towards the driver for ease of use, the system can be used to access personal music libraries and make hands-free calls.

Other features include LED headlights and taillights with dynamic indicators that give the driver good visibility at night or in adverse weather conditions. A unique sports suspension set-up also features. It complements the athletic look of the car and enhances the driving experience.
