The all-new ŠKODA KAMIQ

It's all in the name when it comes to ŠKODA's latest offering.

KAMIQ means ‘something that fits perfectly’ – and ŠKODA’s mini SUV is perfectly designed for urban driving, while also being packed with great features.

So, what is it?

Well, it’s a compact SUV from ŠKODA, and shares some of the same underpinnings as the SEAT Arona and Volkswagen T-Cross. There are three trim levels available – S, SE, and SE L. The whole line is designed with safety in mind, and even the entry-level model includes lane assist and front assist systems.

The SE comes with a strong equipment line-up, including Android and Apple connectivity, DAB radio, cruise control and rear parking sensors, as well as nice little touches like an automatically dimming rear-view mirror and even an umbrella in the driver door. At the top of the line, you’ll also get a bigger screen, voice control, virtual cockpit and cruise control. Those are nice extras, but the SE should have enough on offer for most buyers.

What's it like to drive?

The KAMIQ feels perfectly at home on the motorway and cruises along very pleasantly and quietly, and the subtle lane-keep assist system means you’ll always stay between the lines. There’s also a helpful blind spot warning system with lights on the mirrors to help make overtaking a little simpler.

You certainly enjoy a real SUV experience thanks to the KAMIQ’s elevated driving position, which gives you a perfect view of the road.

What about on the inside?

The KAMIQ infotainment system expands across the range from a 6.5-inch panel to 9.2-inch panoramic touchscreen with Bluetooth, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

You also get lots of head and legroom, 26 storage cubbies and 400 litres of boot space.

Anything else?

The KAMIQ was named the 'Best Practicality Small SUV' by What Car? last year.

Plastic strips will automatically cover the edges of the doors as they open, avoiding car park prangs.

It was also awarded a five-star Euro NCAP rating for automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection and cyclist detection.
